How we work
Editorial Policy
How Velmosyn researches, grows, writes, and reviews its content — and how we stay independent.
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Trust is the only thing that makes a gardening publication worth reading. This page explains how we research, write, review, and maintain everything on Velmosyn — and how we keep our recommendations independent.
How we choose what to cover
We write about the things real gardeners actually deal with: a houseplant that won't stop dropping leaves, a first vegetable bed, when to prune, and why a once-healthy plant suddenly looks sad. Ideas come from our own gardens, reader questions, and the problems we see people struggle with most. We do not chase trends for traffic's sake.
How we research, grow, and write
Every article is written or edited by a named member of our team with hands-on growing experience. When we describe a method, plant, or product, we have grown it, tried it, or lived with it ourselves. We draw on primary sources — horticultural research, cooperative extension and botanical-garden guidance, and recognised plant references — rather than recycling what other sites say. Claims that depend on facts are linked to their source, and we note when something varies by climate, region, season, soil, or species.
Editing and review
Before publication, each piece is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness. We ask a simple question of every draft: would this genuinely help a reader grow something — safely and successfully — or is it just filling space? If it is the latter, it does not run. We also check that toxicity, edibility, and chemical-use warnings are flagged clearly, with a nudge to verify local conditions where appropriate.
Natural and organic first
Wherever it's practical, we encourage natural and organic methods — feeding the soil, working with the season, and reaching for the gentlest effective option before stronger ones. We'll always tell you when a simpler, lower-impact approach is likely to work just as well.
How we make recommendations
Our recommendations are brand-agnostic. We start from the plant and the reader's situation, not from a brand we'd like to promote. Sometimes the best answer is the cheaper tool, the simpler method, or no purchase at all — and we'll say so.
Our use of AI tools
Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated content.
Independence and advertising
Velmosyn is funded by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links. To protect your trust:
- We never accept payment to give a positive review or to feature a product in editorial content — there is no pay-for-placement.
- Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
- Affiliate relationships never change our verdict — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently. If you spot an error or an out-of-date detail, email hello@velmosyn.com or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.
Updates
Because plants, products, and best practices evolve, we revisit popular guides and refresh them. When an article is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
